Floridians whose homes have undergone a wind certification and hurricane mitigation inspection through the Department of Financial Services may be eligible to apply for a matching grants of up to $5,000, if you own a single-family detached dwelling and meet the following criteria:

  • you live at least 6 months out of the year in the home
  • the building permit application for initial construction was made before March 1, 2002;
  • insured value of the building is $300,000 or less;
  • valid homestead exemption;
  • located in the wind-borne debris region;
